WOYWW #602

Good Wednesday all my crafty friends! Well......things are winding down! I can't believe next week is Christmas! I felt like I had alllllllll this time to get things prepared, done and mailed and ALL OF A SUDDEN.....now I don't!!! LOL Isn't that just how we all are during the holidays??? I think it seems to always turn out to be this rush, rush thing, when all along it should have been this peaceful thing!! I don't know that I will ever learn! LOL There is always hope! LOL

Well today, will be a short sweet and simple! I don't have anything I can show today over on Julia's linky blog due to the fact that these last little bits are gifts and I wouldn't want anyone to see something that may be for them and then there goes the surprise!! Technically, I guess they wouldn't "know" it was destined for them, but better safe than sorry, I say! LOL  But head on over to Stamping Ground if you want to show off your digs!

I will show you all one of the exciting gifts that Santa has already brought to me. Bet you didn't know I have an inside link......hee hee! This little yummy is part of a set for me and so this is just a pre-Christmas teaser and the rest I will have to wait for Christmas like all the other good little girls and boys (assuming I have been good, of course!) LOL

As you may know, I love watercolors and I have a really awesome Schmincke set that I looked at and wanted for quite a while before Santa brought me that lovely set a couple of years ago. Schmincke watercolors are fabulous artist-grade watercolors that are just gorgeous to see on paper. So, I wouldn't trade them for anything, but I have been seeing a few sets from Art Philosophy that have been eye candy to me for quite a while.  Now Art Philosophy watercolors are not even in the same playing field as Schmincke's so I didn't want them for any sort of comparison.  Art Philosophy says they are artist-grade, but many have questioned that. I wanted them strictly for a different type of art result on the paper. So I am going into it with that in mind. I'm not looking to get the same result out of them that I get out of Schminke watercolors.

Art Philosophy Watercolor Confections Woodlands

Are those colors GORGE or what??? They are definitely "my" color palette!! I have done a swatch thus far and they were so yummy to lay down! The colors are bold and vibrant and I am in love!! LOL Some people complained of the Confections line as being "chalky," but I did not experience that at all!! I haven't done a piece with them yet, but as soon as the holiday crazy's are over, that is the plan! Santa will also be bringing me the Terrain, Vintage Pastel and Pastel Dreams sets. I am so stoked! The latter two do have white pigment in them (obviously), but again, I am buying them KNOWING that is what are in these palettes and therefore, they won't be "inferior" paints to me! Honestly, I am not sure what folks think they are going to get other than the "pastel" that is on the label? But, I will stop ranting now! LOL I am looking forward to them and just blessed that I am able to add them to my stash!

So, I am trying to beat the clock by finishing up gifts for many. I took all next week off from work to spend a precious holiday week with my girls, so I have to have "work gifts" done Thursday to take to work Friday! Wish me luck, or a gust of wind, or maybe a swift kick in the pants! LOL I hope you all have all your Christmas crafts done, wrapped, and under the tree! :)

As I will be off next week, I am sure I won't make the WOYWW #603, I want to wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and my heart remains faithful that Jesus is the reason for the season! I know we all celebrate Christmas in many different ways and for different reasons, but even in that, we can all remain joyful, loving, and kind to our fellow man! I think that gets left out of the "rush" of Christmas, but it is so very important to keep that at the forefront of our minds because after all, that is what will bring in your NEW YEAR!!  I'd rather breathe joy and peace on my coming new year than "Scroogy" thoughts, stress and hustle and bustle!!LOL

Blessings to you all and one and again Merry Christmas! :)

P.S. I want to point out that I read Mary Anne's blog every week and love what she always shows on her craft desk, but I can NEVER post a comment! I have tried every which way that I know, but it doesn't happen! Just wanted you to know Mary Anne that I do read and appreciate what you share! :) Blessings!

  1. Wow, I have watercolour envy! Those colours look so bright and vibrant, perfect for what you have in store for them. I have never heard of the professional paints you mentioned, they do sound lovely - I’ve just invested in three new watercolour brushes, proper professional ones, as my old ones were ancient. I don’t know if I’ll have time to break them in before Christmas but I am determined to paint more in the New Year.
Have a lovely week Felicia, keep safe.

    1. Right, Jan???? I love those colors! Art Philosophy is just the new brand name for Prima Marketing (the water color side) They have their own site at https://www.artphilosophy.com/ I love watercolor brushes too!! I could own a million and still think I need more! You are due some new lovely ones! I use Princeton, Escada and some Windsor Newton ones. But, as I said, I could buy them all! :) I want to paint more in the new year as well, so we can just make that pact!! LOL Thanks for stopping in and blessings to you! :)

  2. Hi Felicia. Goodness - what a lot you will have. I'm sure you will not be on the naughty list... so Santa will pop down the chimney with the rest of those paint sets. Enjoy.
Yes - Jesus is the reason for the season - coming as a babe into a world of sickness, disease, hatred, violence, oppression... all because He loves each one of us unconditionally. Hallellujah.
    Take care. God bless.

  3. Wow those watercolours are just stunning. Never heard of that brand! They're so rich and darkly pigmented - the redwood caught my eye immediately! I don't blame you for being in love with them - I could easily fall in love with them too - but no, I'm not gonna go there! I'm not even using the sets I already have - still that redwood - oh my goodness! Have fun playing with your new colours, Felicia - wishing you and your family all the happiness this holiday season and hope to see you again soon! xx

They have a website at https://www.artphilosophy.com/ All their palettes are yummy! :) They have tube paint as well! Not enabling, just saying! LOLOL Thank you so much friend for coming by and wishing you the same as well! I do hope we get to see each other again soon, but still open for a meeting anytime!! Blessings upon blessings!

Enjoy your new sets when you get them and have a great week,

  6. I hope you have a lovely Christmas as well, Felicia. Your new watercolour paints are beautiful! Fabulous colours. I hope you will share the other sets with us once you get them.

Thank you for your visit and your uber kind words about my blog! You are so sweet!! I had so much fun researching all about corn and found the whole confusion about terminology quite hilarious in the end! Thank you for giving me the heads up about grits too - they've always been a total mystery to me!

I'm really interested to hear that you've got a Vitamix. I first came across these when I was about to get my stoma and thought there would be loads of foods I would no longer be able to eat - lots of people on the stoma forum in the USA had them, and I was going to get one, but in my researches I found a British one called the Froothie Optimum which has a faster motor and more blades, so that's the one I went for. It's more or less the same, though - a first-class high-speed blender. You are right, they are not cheap, but well worth the investment. As it turned out I was able to eat pretty much anything I wanted after my operation, and the machine didn't really come into its own until I went whole-food plant-based. I use it every day and I am always making almond milk in it, and many other things. I did buy the Vitamix scoop spatula thingy though, to get stuff out of the deep goblet and from under the blades - have you got this? It's an absolutely brilliant tool and well worth having.

The new blender is fabulous too - much better than the defunct bullet one - I used it twice today and I'm really pleased I got it. Again, it was quite a bit more expensive than the standard Nutribullet but you get what you pay for and I think it's worth investing in quality because cheaper stuff always breaks down more quickly and has to be replaced, which is a false economy. My food processor is great too but it doesn't get used as often as my other machines so it lives in the cupboard.

So glad you like my kitty project! I love that Cat Stitch - it's super-easy to do and so effective. You don't have to embroider the faces but I think it improves it. I shall be doing more of those squares. It's a shame I shan't have time to finish it before Christmas but my hubby will get it eventually! I've been very busy in the kitchen again today but hope to do some more crochet this evening.

Happy WOYWW and have a great week, Felicia! God bless you.

    1. Shoshi, you are VERY welcome!! I love coming by your blog every week to get a little education on all the foodies that I love as well!! I don't cook near enough because my kids won't eat what I eat, but when they are gone, I will have ALL the cupboard space and ALL the fridge space to myself and I can put all the "gross" food in there that I want!!!! LOLOL

I don't have one of the Vitamix scoop spatulas! I really do need to get one! Sticking my hand down in that to get the last goody has proven to be tricky at times...and even a knick or two! Must put on my list! LOL

Thanks as well for always coming by and leaving me sweet comments!! Happy Christmas Shoshi!! And to the kitties as well! :)

    2. Thanks Felicia! Yes, the Vitamix scoop spatula is an essential tool. I use it a lot. It was more pricey than it should have been, in my opinion, but well worth it in the end - I suppose you pay for the name. I contacted the Froothie company and said they should stock something like that for our blenders. It can be very difficult getting all that goodness out of a deep narrow blender. You will have fun revamping our kitchen once the kids have flown the nest. When I did the final pantry purge and got all my lovely jars organised, I felt a real sense of achievement. Same with the freezer. I just don't have any of those other so-called "foods" (that destroy your health) in the house any longer!!

      Hugs,
      Shoshi and the kitties x

I love your palette! I am very much into earth tones, all the very warm colors! My home is full of them and I love the Farmhouse style.

I am practicing with water colors but am no where near being comfortable enough to use them on projects I share!

    1. YESSSS, more watercolors I say! :) I don't use pens a lot for that very reason. I have been fortunate to have a few last a good bit, but mostly they don't! Watercolor is such a happy medium that lasts for so long and looks beautiful!! Double sided tape, really?? That is too funny!! I have always wanted to visit Spain. I am only the second generation in this country. My grandfather was from Benavente!! That is our family name! My cousin did a genealogy trip to Spain, so I'm so envious! My bucket list for sure! Thanks for coming around and blessings to you! :)

  11. I love watercolours yet hardly ever use them which is crazy really as they are far better value for money and last so much longer than other medium. Good luck at getting everything done too. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x12x

  12. Super water colours. I bought a set over lockdown and a Bible to journal in but it wore off pretty quick. I'm just not a painter or colouring-in person.
Glad I amused you with my scrapbooking. I have been making photo albums (sticky page ones) since I was 17yrs as I was dismayed with my Mother's cardboard box of photos all higgledy piggledy. They morphed into scrapbooks back in 2005 where I was working in catch up from Dec 2003 when I got my first digital camera. I found Photobox on the internet to print my photos and have been doing that ever since.
    Keeps me busy.

  13. Hi Felicia, lucky lady - you definitely must be on Santa's nice list and have been a good girl to bring such lovely paints. I have used watercolours on a few cards in the past, but lack of talent stopped me doing more. However my enthusiasm for all things crafty outweighs my lack of talent, so I will have another go with them next year. Thanks for stopping by and your kind words on my finished quilts, and lonely Christmas card- I've been lulled into the same false sense of security as you ... we have alllllll this time, then whoosh- it's gone, and Christmas is next week! I'm sure you will create stunning work with them however you chose to use them.

  22. Julia, you are so sweet! I Try!!! I do a lot of research about things before I make a purchase (probably WAY TOO MUCH) because I just want to really know about the product and peoples experience with said product. But in the end, I just go with what I feel. I think people focus way to much on "professional" or "student grade!" It's like wine......if it tastes good to YOU, then it's good! LOL Tooooo funny on the marmite/gin concoction!! LOLOL I laughed out loud on that Julia! It sounded ghastly that ANYONE would put that stuff in a mixed drink....but whatever works, I guess! I would NEVER ruin gin that way....it's all tonic and a DOUBLE twist of lime for me madam! :) LOL Have an amazing holiday Julia! Thank you for all you do and thanks so much for stopping in!
