WOYWW #635

Good Wednesday all my crafty friends!!  Well, we have come around again, haven't we?  Funny how these Wednesdays just keep coming!!  I shouldn't be so boastful.....we aren't assured another that being said, I am so very thankful for this "other" Wednesday! LOL  If you are too, come on over to Julia's Stamping Ground blog, get happy, and show us what's on your desk today!!!

First, up out of the gate, I want to show you some happy mail that I got! Since joining the felting community over on Living Felt, I have been going to the live show on Wednesday afternoon called Wooly Wednesday.  I can't go every week, due to my job, but I try to when I can because it usually has LOTS of tips and know-hows for a beginner like me. Last week, they had a fabulous felting artist on there who had a lovely story/testimony and was so glad to be able to attend.  Now, for those who are questioning my "work ethic," hee hee, yes, I am at work during that sacred hour, but I just have it going on one screen while working on another, hee hee.  Pretty clever aye? "Technically," I'm working, sheesh! LOL  Anywho, if you attend, they put you in a hat draw and could possibly win something! So.....two weeks ago when I attended, I was the winner!! Yayyyy!!! I NEVER win anything, so it was pretty cool!!

3D Project at the wait!

So this was my winnings! That week, they were actually doing this project on the show.  I still am not interested in doing 3D felting, however, this "appeared" to be a good "beginner" 3D project that I could do just to try it out.  I was very grateful for the lovely win and am looking forward to trying it out! Lucky me!!

Well, as per late, I haven't been very crafty due to MANY things going on in my life.  Since I am on the felting wave, I will go ahead and show you the progress, or lack thereof depending on how you look at it, of my mushroom project! I am still really loving it and so glad I decided to start this journey.  It really does feel like painting to me, just with fiber!!  I will continue on and hopefully soon, be able to show you the "finished product.

Slowly, but surely...hee hee!

Both of my ATC Swaps are due on the 15th, so my snail tail better get to crackin!!!!! The picture below is kind of staged because I am showing you the cards thus far, set out with the products I plan to use next on them.  You will remember I got these products at the expo.  Not sure how I will proceed, but those are the plan. I have a few ideas, but they always look great in my head!!! LOLOL I will show the finished projects, hopefully, next week! I got to get them puppies in the mail!!

Next step......hmmmm???

This will be a short week for me at work because this weekend is my annual mother/daughters trip to the coast!! Many of you may remember that my dear ma ma is wheelchair-bound and in a nursing home.  When she was active her "go to" was the beach!! She'd live there if she could.  So some several years ago, my sisters and I decided that we would make it an annual event to get her out of that cursed nursing home and take her to her beloved beach for the weekend!!  It's a challenge because we basically have to do everything for her, but its TOTALLY worth it to see her face light up and we all have giggles and fun!! Last year when we went when she got back, she had to be quarantined for 14 days because of COVID. So far this year, they have said she won't have to do that again.  But now that everything seems to be ramping up again, let's hope that remains true! That would have to be ghastly to be stuck in a small room for 14 days!! Lord!!!!!!  So looking forward to it and we are staying an extra day this time, so four lovely days with each other! Hope to have some photos to show!!

Well my friends, please do take care with this pandemic rearing its ugly head again!! Still no "restrictions" or "mandates" placed yet over here, so I am so glad we are getting to the beach before it all would hit the fan. By now, most of us all have our jabs and if you haven't, please consider doing so. Mostly the ones who are contracting now, at least in the states, are the ones that haven't had the jab. Blessings going up and out to you all!!!

Pip pip, cheerio and all that rot!! (love that phrase!! LOL)

  1. I am glad you are enjoying felting - it is such a satisfying medium and so varied too. I hope you have a lovely break with your family - what a great idea. xx Jo

  2. Hope you manage to catch the workshop when thye are working on your prize project Felicia. Enjoy the weekend with your mum at the beach - such an act of love but worth every moment I am sure. Hope she doesn't have to isolate when she gets back. Good luck getting the ATCs finished and posted on time. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

  3. Your mushroom is lovely! Yes, the pandemic won't just go away like we all want it to so we will have to carry one being careful. Bah! I hope your Mom gets a lovely weekend out at the beach and thank goodness she won't have to pay for it by staying isolated for 2 weeks! That is awful at any age. One of the reasons when my dear son asks if he should pop over from San Fran to the UK for a visit I say "Not yet" If he were to have to isolate for the whole duration of his visit, what would be the point? {sigh} Enjoy your time away!

    Happy WOYWW.

  4. Love the mushroom - I hope that the beach trip goes well. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#18)

  5. Felicia, I've heard you say at least 3 or 4 times now that you never win anything! I think you'll have to change your tune LOL - you're definitely on a winning steak! Very clever of you watching the crafting videos while at work - I hope your monitor is facing the wall (and also that your boss doesn't read your blog!) I have to update the Facebook pages for work regularly and they are connected to my personal account (there was no other way to set them up!) so every time I visit FB for work I get side-tracked by my own arty feed! But at least if someone catches me I can say I'm just updating our social media channels! How lovely that you can take your mum to the beach each year! Hope she won't have to self-isolate this time around. Have a lovely time with your family and show us the photos when you're back! xx zsuzsa #25

  6. Love the felting, congrats on your winnings, so cute. Enjoy your beach trip! Happy WOYWW! Elle #20 this week

  7. Your toadstool is looking fabulous, and you are really lucky winning that lovely little felting kit. I hope you have a lovely time at the beach with your mum - what a lovely idea taking her there each summer - fingers crossed she won't have to isolate this time round.
    Have a great week,
    Diana xx #19

  8. great prize - enjoy! I do like your toadstool. I hope you have a lovely weekend at the beach with your Mum and she doesn't have to quarantine on her return. Thanks for stopping by. Take care. Helen #4

  9. I shall be looking at Living Felt, thank you for the link. I like the bee fairy, well done for winning. Love your toadstool x Angela #15

  10. Hi Felicia. That video/live tutorial sounds great fun. I love making felt, and have done a little bit of 3d stuff - but not a lot. Enjoy your winnings. Have a great time taking your mum to the beach.
    Take care. God bless.

  11. It's so nice to win something, I never seem to be very lucky, Felting is another of the crafts I really like though I don't do a lot of it. I've made 3D stuff to and it's great to see it come together. Hope you and your mother have a lovely time. I know how difficult it is as my mum is 93. Wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela x17x

  12. Oh, I hope that you have the best time with you mum and family, I live by the beach and think I take it for granted, whereas you work so hard to make it a treat for your mother. I hope she (and you) have a wonderful time. I think it’s good multitasking, having that channel on while ‘working’, lol, I’d do the same and hooray for winning that cute kit. I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the felting so much!

  13. What ho dear gal. Four days at the beach with your mum and siblings sounds like a ticket I would love too, I hope you have the best time. Loving the burgeoning mushroom, doesn’t matter how little or much you do, all these things are ‘pick up and put down’ friendly, and for good reason, you have a very busy life. Even if you do employ the two screen trick at work…could be worse, it’s not offensive or noisy!!

  14. Enjoyed reading and looking at what you have been up to.
I haven't been active on WOYWW for such a long time and I lost my Artistic mojo ages ago. I am hoping for inspiration looking at prolific artists like yourself.
