WOYWW #630

Good Wednesday all my crafty friends!!  Can we all just say how QUICKLY this year is flying by? And.....can we all just say that we don't remember a thing about last year?  Seriously, it is a blip to me!!! LOLOL Not good, of course, but we will all "remember the year that "no one remembers" in history!! LOLOL  Is that an oxymoron?  LOLOL  Well, before we forget this week, jump on over to our fabulous host Julia's Stamping Ground Blog and share what's on your desk "this" Wednesday! 😂

So, what's going on at my crafty desk! A few things in fact.  I am working on my next sugar skull.  I am taking a little different route with this one, so we shall see how it goes!  It's always a leap of faith in the crafting world when we decide to do something different....I take A LOT of leaps of faith! LOL  I have so much fun doing these guys, however, so it's ok.  This is obviously in the very preliminary stages.  It usually takes a few days to get the base because of the base painting and then I think I alluded to this last week, but it takes a good day or two to draw what I want on base to paint. Note to self, and anyone else who is thinking of doing this, DON'T USE carbon paper (you know that stuff we used to have to put in between two sheets of typing paper to get a carbon copy...hee hee  This was before copiers were affordable!!! YES, I am that old!) to transfer your image!!! LOL  I feel like I have used it in the past, but had a different experience this time. It bleeds through the paint and doesn't come off easily when you try to erase boo boo's! I have now acquired graphite paper and we shall see if it makes a difference in the next project!! Who knows, it may be the same exact thing disguised under a different name! LOLOL

Let's see where this one goes???

I have also started the background for my July ATC's.  Trying to go ahead and get them in the mail before the 15th. We shall see! LOL

Independence Day here we come!!

Let's have a little Happy Mail share! I actually got this last 12th Anniversary ATC last week in the mail, but AFTER I posted for WOYWW! This clever ATC came from our very own Morti! She did a fabulous job on this ATC. The embre of colors, I love and the embossed WOYWW 12 all over was too clever! I don't know why I never remember to emboss more! She also included a lovely postcard from Cornwall, where she lives! Thank you so much Morti, I love it! 💓  Also Caro, if you are come round to my desk, email me your email so we can chat!

Thank you Morti for a great ATC and Postcard! :)

This lovely batch is my June Swap ATC's that I received from CWCrafts Swap Group over on Instagram!  As always, there is no theme, but everyone always seems to come up with season-appropriate themes for their cards! I really enjoy doing these swaps!

I was blessed with these ATC Puppies!

Now, for the BEST happy mail that I received this past weekend!!! Hooray for felting supplies!! I am so stoked you guys! I simply can't wait to get started. The problem is I have these other things on my desktop that I need to get finished, so it will have to wait....sniff...sniff! I wouldn't be able to give it my full attention knowing I had other things to finish, so it will be just a little bit! I got one kit (the Mushroom) that I was assured was a good beginner's kit to start. And then I had watched a separate video by Marie at Living Felt that had my eyes filled with stars wanting to do that project as well. There is no kit for it (the Lavendar Fields photo peeking out on the right), so I had to buy everything separately. It was a wee bit pricey for all the batting, etc....but they give you ample and I probably won't use it all on this project, so I should have some leftover for another project as well.  All in all...YET ANOTHER EXPENSIVE HABIT I have fallen upon! LOLOL  Again, THANKS JO for heading me down that highway! LOLOL Truly though, I am thankful, I love ALL crafting and especially if it gets me out of my comfort zone! 😉

Felting Goodness Galore!!

Well, all my friends, that's about it for me today and I will do my best to get around to as many as I can within my workday!  Sometimes it's harder than other times! I love each and EVERY ONE of your crafty talents and inspiration! 💓

Blessings

  1. Ah, so many crafts, so little time! I’m like you, I always want to try everything to see if I can do it! Some I win, some I lose (zentangling!). I’m the same with musical instruments too, I just want to see if I can get a good sound. Love the master board and skull layout too, I’m sure they’ll turn out well. Carbon paper seems to get everywhere, bit like glitter and photocopier toner!

  2. Hi Felicia the master board & sugar skull are looking great and just look at that happy mail, lovely people to share their crafty makes across the miles. Oh my look at all those pretty roving colours, how much fun you will have experimenting with it, watch your fingers with that felting needle, it does tend to smart a little if you catch them ouch!!
Really love the sound of the lavender field, I have beautiful pictures in my mind already. Don't forget to share each step of your new journey.
Sending you an early *Happy 4th of July* hope you've got great things planned.
Creative hugs this WoywW Tracey xx

  4. You're right about last year seeming like a blip! If we're not careful our whole life will seem like a blip - which in the scheme of things is actually what it is LOL! Yes, I'm old enough too to remember carbon paper - I actually used it in my first job just before computers widely appeared - keeping in mind that Hungary was a bit backward then - talking about 1988/89! I have good memories though - mainly. Loving the beginnings of your patriotic project, which reminds me that my bloggiversary is coming up on July 2nd. (I always try to tie less important dates to historic dates so as not to forget - like my boss's birthday just before D-Day) The sugar skull is indeed at the "awkward" stage at the moment, but I can definitely see the potential there! Have fun with your felting supplies when you get to them - it's always exciting discovering a new process - the good thing about eco dyeing is that it's practically free! The only thing I had to buy was the alum, but it's hardly breaking the bank. But anyway, you deserve to spend some hard earned cash on things that make you happy so no need to feel guilty! Looking forward to seeing your endeavors! Happy crafting Felicia! So glad you're regularly posting on WOYWW again xx zsuzsa #31

  5. I was very impressed with your master board. It looks very July 4th. Your sugar skull is coming along and I hope you have gotten all the marks off by now. I know you will do a good job with it, like you did the one for your daughter.

You got some beautiful ATCs in that swap. I like the PRIDE one, but they are all so very well done. Happy mail indeed. Have a great 4th, dear, since I won't see your blog before then.

I am in awe of your rovings. It looks like you got a single needle. I hope you enjoy this new challenging venture, because it truly IS addictive. Happy WOYWW from # 12.

  8. Felting is something i would love to be able to do - I want to make those lovely little animals you see others make. Look forward to seeing what you do.
Those are lovely ATC's you have to show us. Funny enough I have just remarked on someone's blog that you don't see many people doing them these days. You are proving me wrong here. I used to make lots and swap them in the Netherlands - they seem to go big on them there.
    Enjoy your week.
    Hugs, ~neet 10 xx

  9. You are so going to enjoy the felting just watch your fingers. I like making animals but have a habit of sticking the pins in myself when I get excited and move too fast. Loving your Masterboard for the ATCs. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x23x

  11. How exciting to be starting the felting, Felicia. I've done quite a bit in the past, having done a course but haven't done any for ages. I agree with Angela - those felting needles are lethal if you stab yourself!! So do take care! I've done wet felting too. Felt is amazing, how you can sculpt it and blend colours - it's so maleable and you can make anything with it. There are loads of ideas online particularly on Pinterest. I did think of making kitty igloos for our two but decided against it because knowing them, they wouldn't use them!!

Thank you for your lovely comment and all your good wishes and prayers, and for your encouragement. It is so nice knowing one has friends around the world who are praying. I have a special friend who is in Brazil too, and I know she is praying. We are often on the phone on WhatsApp - amazing technology, speaking free, half way round the world! We can even do video.

I know I shall be OK. Not long to go now, and my forward planning is going pretty well. I'm still waiting for a letter from the hospital detailing what I've got to do when, and when my pre-op appointments are going to be. There's still quite a bit to do in the studio - now it's not such a tip, you can really see what a great room it is. The builder did a superb job for me and I love the sweeping work surface that goes round 3 of the walls. Some of the units pull out on casters - my own idea for optimising storage space, because you can only sit in one place at a time and why have several open spaces? They are useful for putting things on while you work. My mixed media shelves are shambolic at the moment and definitely need work! I expect some of the stuff has dried out, like you said yours had. I hate when that happens because things like gel medium are very expensive and I hate wasting stuff.

I'm glad you liked the card I made. I like the subtle colours. I love working with inks and Tombow markers etc. So glad you enjoyed the kitties too - they were so cute when they were tiny! My hubby looked at that photo and couldn't believe they could both fit in his hands like that!

Happy WOYWW and God bless you,

  12. Happy Belated WOYWW. I really enjoy trading ATCs too. Not doing so much now, as time is a bit limited. I have several folders of trades going back many years. Must do some flick-through videos and put them on my blog/YouTube. Hope you get some time to start on the felting soon. I only seem to want to work with any sort of fibre in the winter (I was the same when I was knitting regularly), so my 2 projects will have to wait until later in the year. Ali x #15

  13. I am ashamed that I didn’t thank you for the fab happy Mail that arrived before last Wednesday, lovely pic of Dublin and a great ATC, I genuinely am not sure how you carve out the time. It was lovely to get them both, thanks you so much! Hey, talking of time…another rabbit hole for you to disappear into, all that felting stuff will eat up hours! a it looks fab, and yeah, I know it is a bit pricey but will doubtless go a long long way. I hope you really enjoy this new journey!

  15. Hi Felicia, sorry I'm late stopping by, am going from 1 - 39 this week and it takes me a while. Your posts are always such fun to read and your enthusiasm is so infectious - but it makes me feel I need to get back my va va voom!! I do agree this year is flying - and yes, what even happenned last year? I think we were all just focussed on getting from day to day. A few super good memories but most of it? yep, barely a blip. Thanks for you stopping by and your kind comments - Mum is now home, sans surgery, which is great and worrying at the same time. We aren't off the hook worry wise as it provisionally scheduled in 6-8 weeks while she 'builds up her strength'. Off to visit today. Good luck with the felting!! Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, Cindyxx #18

  17. I love your blogpost and everything you show - I have good results with graphite paper, it's not as 'harsh' as carbon and you can easily erase it, good luck with that! Have a nice weekend you beautiful one, hug from Holland! Marit #13
