So many that visit me know of my deep love for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and my daily visits and conversations with Him. Not sure (well, I really do) where I'd be without my daily coffee conversations with Him. He is so patient and kind with me and listens with an intent ear to all that I have to say. And continues to instruct me in His way that I don't make a complete daboggle of my life! LOLOL My usual place of conversation is on my love seat (usually with my feline friends arguing over whose going to sit with me) looking straight across to my bay window and out into His beautiful creation! I'm so thankful that He gives me breath daily to witness His rising every morning! He never ceases to disappoint!
This morning, the scripture He brought me to as I beheld His wonder was "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God" (1Jhn 3:1) What LOVE indeed!! How more fitting could that scripture have been for me this morning as I gazed out my bay window to see His love in FULL display! Now, I could see the tinges of what was about to be His glory from my love seat, but you can't tell from this picture, so I rose up and went outside to see Him in all His splendor for you to see as well! I was moved to compassion....what manner of love that THIS ONE GOD chose to call me His own and show Himself to me not only in the spiritual (through the pages of His glorious Word) but also in the physical with a display that said, "Here Am I!" Be still my heart! Well, it just plain doesn't get any better than this! What a privilege to be a part of such a display to KNOW Him and to be KNOWN by Him! What manner of love indeed!
So what's on my work desk today??? Well yesterday I told you that I had discovered a "new art form" (for me anyway) that I just had to try out. I actually came across it while surfing the internet for pictures of mandalas and their history! I'm in love! Now as we mixed media artists always are, when we see something, we just have to try it and can't sleep or sit still until we get the supply and give it a go ourselves! You know what I'm talking about.......don't even try to deny it! It's in our DNA, it's almost a sickness!! LOLOL Some of those little ditty's didn't stick, but most of the new forms I wanted to try did and I end up loving them!! This is going to be one of them!!
Paint dot mandalas!! Who new???? I didn't! You may have!! LOLOL So I found this awesome artist Elspeth McLean who does paint dot mandalas who is just amazing. She started, I think, doing them on rocks and it exploded to canvas. I also have found another artist who also saw Elspeth and starting doing them herself as well and she is also quite good. I found her on YouTube and I love watching her videos as well as Elspeth's. This lady's name is Kristin Uhrig and I have actually had some email conversation with her about her style. She has such a lovely nature and I really enjoy watching her instructional videos because they helped me get started!
First Go! |
Don't be hating on me.....it was my first go! LOLOL So after I did this small one (5x7 to be exact) and loved doing it, I felt comfortable going a little bigger (8x10).
I'm clearly not done yet, but wanted you to see what I was doing and how I got started. What do you think???
Work in Progress! |
Well, this novel, must end! LOLOL I hope you all have an AWESOME Wednesday and visit as many of these talented folks as you can and give them a little love!
Be blessed!
Hi Felicia. Now they are different - never seen anything quite like that before.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that scripture. When my elder daughter got married I made a sort of canopy with painted/sewn fabric on the back, and that scripture on the front hanging border. I was so thrilled with it!!
Take care. God bless.

Hi Margaret, thanks so much for stopping in!! Different and fun to be sure! Yes, I LOVE that scripture as well! What a special blessing for your daughter on her special day! I know she will always treasure it! Thanks again for stopping in! Blessings to you! :)
DeleteMagnificent sunrise - it was worth getting up early just to see it! The world can be incredibly, jaw-droppingly beautiful at times! And your mandalas are just as jaw-droppingly beautiful as well! I've seen ones painted on rocks, but never occurred to me that they can be done on canvas as well and they look even more impressive against the black background. I can imagine they're also very meditative to work on! I'll check out YT for some instructions! Wishing you a lovely week, Felicia!
ReplyDeleteYou're the sweetest my friend! I can always count on lovely encouragement from you! It always makes my heart smile! They both do them on rocks, but I KNOW I wouldn't dare try that! Not to mention that I could never find lovely rocks like that here in the South! We just don't have them unless you go up into the mountain streams. Probably won't be doing that any time soon! Definitely check them out though! THank you so much for visiting and commenting yesterday on my blog! Papa is getting on to be sure, but its a daily healing as I am sure you can imagine! Right now he has thrush and is on antibiotics. We are thinking its from his dentures and his trying to wear them with his injuries! He just can't seem to get a break.....and like you said...just laugh so you DON'T cry! LOLOL You have an amazing week too my friend and an even better weekend! Blessings
DeleteOoooh, those paint dot mandalas are gorgeous! I'm going to have to visit Elspeth's site now to check out her work. I adore the bright colours against black!
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 8 xxx
Thanks Jan! You will find VERY QUICKLY when you visit Elspeth's site that mine are VERY archaic and almost childlike compared to hers! LOLOL She is amazing! But I will keep at it and maybe find a happy medium! LOL Thanks for stopping in and make it a great week! :) Blessings
DeleteGreat WOYWW Have a great week! xx Jan (31)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much and you as well! Blessings
DeleteMy bff went to a 'dot painting session' and she said how restful and enjoyable it was. Nothing quite as complicated as mandalas. You have shown us some amazing work - keep going.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet 5 xx
Oh wow, how much fun! I would love to do that! Thanks for your kind words Neet! I'm digging in my heels! LOLOL Thanks for stopping by! Blessings

ReplyDeleteThank you as well for stopping in Angela! Blessings!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous WIP. It looks so simple and yet so complex at the same time. I've never seen that art form before so thanks for sharing. Sarah #12
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words Sarah! It's a work in progress (a "learning" work, LOL) to be sure! But I am having fun! Thank you so much for stopping in! Have a GREAT weekend! Blessings
DeleteI usually associate Mandalas with Eastern religions like Buddhism so I just had to do a search after reading your blog and came up with this link http://www.mandalasforthesoul.com/christian-mandalas/ - now that sits better with my soul. Pretty creations. Thanks for the visit and making be think outside the box - LOL BJ#6
ReplyDeleteBJ, thank you for stopping in and most certainly for your comment! I understand your thoughts on this! LOL I would never do ANYTHING to compromise my faith or to lead someone down the wrong path, according to my faith! I am very sorry for any concern I may have caused! I love art in all its forms even those of other cultures. I would strictly see it as "that" however and never entertain anything outside my own beliefs. I love Yoga, and the practice from an athletic side of it, but would never entertain the spiritual practice of it. So for me, as a mature Christian, I feel enjoying the art form is not compromising because I only see it in that way! That being said, I do research as well before I do anything so that my heart and soul are also put to rest about anything I do! LOL I know exactly how you feel in that area! Thank you again SO much for your comment and again, I am sorry for any inconvenience on that score! Thank you for stopping in this week! Have a blessed weekend! :)
DeleteHi Felicia, I love the Mandalas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW

Thank you so much Sue! You are most welcome! :) Blessings
DeleteThese are wonderful, Felicia!!!
ReplyDeleteFelicia, your "dotty" mandalas are stunning! Well done you! Like you, as a Christian, the beliefs behind them are not to my taste but that doesn't stop me admiring their beauty and trying my hand a at them. I've done quite a few on the iPad which is great fun. Thank you also for sharing your faith so openly - I feel the same, and get such a lift from God's wonderful creation all around us, and feel so blessed. Especially at the moment with two absolutely gorgeous new baby kittens to delight us! Only Jesus could have come up with the idea of kittens lol!!! Thank you for your sweet comment - we were counting the days, hours and minutes before we collected them and I could hardly sit still! I am trying to spend as much time as possible with them as this gorgeous kitten stage lasts such a short time. I am not married to a vet - it was someone I know online who's married to a vet and said that about getting new kitties when your old ones have died. I found it very helpful. My hubby absolutely adores kitties (and all animals) so it's the next best thing lol!
ReplyDeleteHealth wise I am doing very well. No sign of any cancer. I had emergency surgery for a blockage caused by a parastomal hernia back in Feb. and am seeing my surgeon again on 10th but he won't operate again to do a better repair - we've got to wait for this one to fail first, which isn't great. I just hope I don't get a repeat performance because the blockage made me very poorly indeed.
Keep an eye on my blog/youtube channel for more on the kittens! They are fun fun fun!
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #19
Happy Very Belated WOYWW. I have never seen dotty mandala's and I imagine they could be very relaxing to do. I might have a go at some small ones to use as ATCs. Ali x #20
