I really loved doing this journal page because everything around me was screaming autumn/fall! It is my very favorite time of year and if time stuck during the fall, it would be lovely!!! I had in my mind already what I wanted to do, so surprisingly this page came together so fast.
I began with gesso on my page as always and then proceeded to pull out quite a few stencils to just start laying color down with. I think most were Crafter's Workshop stencils along with Tim Holtz's Burlap Layering Stencil (one of my faves!) and some bubble wrap. I knew I wanted to use the teal, but when I got through laying the teal and some purple (all cheap acrylics, by the way) I wanted to tone it down some, so I went back over smudging some gesso on with my fingers.

I had the idea of the coffee mug in my mind because nothing says fall or autumn to me than sitting around a fire with a good cup of joe. So I fussy cut a cup on some wonderful scrapbook paper I had that was teal and then added some accents with other scrap paper and a cute little stamp I had and then filled it with some neat little items that just said "homey" to me! I, of course, distressed all of the pieces with vintage photo and then applied everything to the page with mod podge. I had seen the quote from John Donne online "No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face." I love, loved that! it just went with my thoughts on my favorite time of year. I shadowed everything with my favorite Faber-Castell Big Brush Pen in Nougat!
This is the week that everyone recognizes being "thankful!" I try to remain in a place of thankfulness on a DAILY basis. God's Word in Ephesians says "Giving thanks ALWAYS and for EVERYTHING to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!" (5:20) That says, always and for everything! No matter the circumstance, no matter the time of year! I have so many things to be thankful for, but above ALL, I am most thankful for a Father in Heaven who would offer up His only Son on the cross for ME that I might be saved and be reconciled back to Him!! Thanks speaks of eternity! Who wouldn't be thankful for ETERNITY?
This week my prayer is that you ALL would bask in the goodness of our Father in Heaven, He loves you and I and wants nothing in return, but your thankfulness, your honor and your praise! Be thankful and praise Him today!
I am also SO very thankful for ALL of my online friends that I have met and who have taken the time to encourage me and whom have visited and commented on my blog! Bless you ALL and may you have a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Blessings!
Love the visual complexity here, and the fall colours are wonder. It's a beautiful page!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Win! I love fall colors! My daughter always asks me, what's your favorite color mom and I always say fall colors! She gets mad because she wants me to say "one" color, but I just love ALL fall colors! LOL Thanks again Win! Blessings to you! :)
DeleteLove the background and the colour combo is gorgeous, I love collecting acorns during the autumn walks here, and your sentiment is awesome! Happy Thanksgiving Felicia!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, thanks so much Ruth! I love acorns too! We don't have them so much around here because for the most part, all the hardwood's are being cut down to make way for timber planting. I hate it because hardwoods are my favorite and pine's, which are the timber of choice, I just don't really like! You really only get to see lovely hardwoods and their fruit (acorns) if you go into the deep woods! Sad isn't it...all for a buck! Don't get me started! LOL Thanks so much again and I pray you have the most wonderful Thanksgiving as well, if you celebrate it abroad? If not maybe just a lovely fall time together! LOL Thanks my wonderful friend! :)
DeleteSo glad your daughters are recovering. What a wonderful page, Just love the coffee cup full of goodies. Your love for the Father and thankful heart just shines in your post. Being thankful helps us keep a smile on our faces as well as in our hearts. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you my sweet friend! You are so kind always! I so agree with you, being thankful keeps our mind off of NOT being!! LOL And too right, does keep a smile on your face! I always remember when I trained in marketing and they told us that people could hear a smile through the telephone.....it's true too! So I ALWAYS try to keep a smile on! Blessings to you Susan and have a wonderful day! :)
DeleteLOVE this page Felicia! You're cup is always half full (as opposed to half empty) - actually, now that I look at it, your cup is overflowing! Thank you for the reminder that we need to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. It's so easy to take things for granted. I'm so glad to hear that your daughters have got through their respective dental difficulties. I'm so squeamish about teeth (and eyes)! My son has given up on asking for my help with his wobbly teeth - I always almost faint when he asks me to pull his baby teeth out. He just does it himself now, LOL! Isn't it strange that your other daughter had problems with her teeth at the same time as her sister? Is that a manifestation of some kind of strange sibling rivalry or perhaps empathy? Or just some freaky coincidence? I've just completed my December tag as well! We are alike in more ways than one! I wanted to get ahead of myself and make sure I didn't miss the deadline. I guess we can't post it until December though.
ReplyDeleteLOL, LOL, LOL...Zsuzsa, MORE giggling at my desk!! You better stop it my friend, my co-workers may start contemplating "therapy" for me!!! LOL You know, what a poignant statement you made concerning my cup! I ALWAYS want to remain in a place of "half full" or as you further stated "overflowing!" I NEVER have ANYTHING to complain about and am blessed BEYOND I deserve! When I keep that into perspective, about how my Father in Heaven blesses and takes care of me, then I can TOTALLY remain in that place!! It's a daily dying to my flesh to not look at the circumstances but to look at the blessings, but when I do, it brings a "wholeness" to my life.
DeleteYou crack me....I am squeamish about teeth as well! Long story short, I used to have a recurring dream about my teeth falling out, so now I am soooooo over the top about TEETH! I don't do the teeth pulling either....aaahhhh!
I can't believe you mentioned the strangeness of both my daughters with the teeth thing because I was TOTALLY thinking the same thing!!! I think we may be kindred spirits from afar my friend.....spooky, really spooky!! LOL
I'm chomping at the bit to get my December tags in the mail, but you and I just need to "settle it down" as they say here in the south!!! LOL What can we say, we just love doing what we do!! Blessings to you today my wonderful friend!! *big smiles on my face*
You're the sweetest, Felicia! Just for the record - I have recurring dreams about my teeth falling out as well! I'm always relieved when I wake up to find they're all still there! Happy Tuesday and don't let me distract you from work!
ReplyDeleteLOL, LOL, LOL I will be glad to go home today!! Between you and Ruth, my cheeks are hurting from my constant smile and laughter today! LOL Not really....I love to laugh! Keeps a heart in good condition! LOL All that said....I worry about my teeth all being there when I wake up too. Trouble is, I have had lots of teeth issues since a child (Ruth and I were talking about that) and if my dreams don't pull ALL my teeth out, the dentist WILL!! LOL I'm trying to keep what's mine, but gosh they are relentless!!! LOL At least I still have most of them for Thanksgiving turkey!! LOL, LOL I better stop! HA ha ha ha
