WOYWW #594 So many projects, so little time!!!

Good Wednesday all my crafty friends!!! It Wednesday again and over at Julia's Stamping Ground, we are sharing the love....crafty love that is! LOL  Come on over and join us and share what's happening on your work desk today!

So as I kind of hinted, I have several projects on my desk, or close by, hee hee, and December is like....right around the corner!! Ugghhh!  I'm on a mad furry because as I stated last week, I like to give the gift of creativity to friends and loved ones.  I don't do Christmas cards like so many of you talented card makers do, but I will bang out a project, which I'm thinking takes longer! LOL  The problem with it all, is I get the hair-brained ideas when I'm backed in a corner and have to pull out my cape and superpowers to get it done in time!!!  I think that's called procrastination.....hmmmmmm? And besides, I don't look good in the whole skin-tight superpower suit!! Too many lumps! LOL

Last week, I also shared my ATC's that I did get in the mail on time (believe it or not) that I did for the swap over on Instagram at Amy's Art Alchemy and I can't wait to receive my swap cards from a new art friend from somewhere in this world. So exciting!! Anywho, I met a new crafty friend in the group whose art I commented on and then she asked did I want to trade with her! Of course.... who's going to say no to that! LOL  So the last photo I took of my desk was on Sunday where I actually have the beginnings of my new ATC's for the swap with her and the beginnings of Project Christmas.

Beginning Ornaments and ATC's

You will remember one of my recent posts "Project Mom" whereby my talented sister does amazing woodwork with that giant machine! She graciously agreed to cut me out some wood pieces for my Project Christmas, which are to the left of the ATC's.  I got her to cut out three different shapes and I will be making Christmas ornaments out of them. I have done some base painting thus far, but I had to do a little here and a little there because I had to get those Instagram Swaps in the Mail and to Texas by the 15th.  And then I wanted to get my new friends ATC's in the mail by this Monday. So, exhalation, LOL, now I can get back on the ornaments.  I will share as I get them done for sure.

Three cuts for my "Project Christmas!"

Well that's it for my crafts this week, but I wanted to share with you what my precious daughter brought to me on Saturday.  I was crafting, and she knows I get in the "zone" when I'm crafting, so she thought it would be a pretty good prank to call me out of my room to "help her do something," as my response would most likely be something like, *sigh to the max*, but I would drag myself away to help! And this is what I found:

My Dolly!

Isn't she a peach?????  She is just an amazing young lady, wise beyond her years, and ALWAYS thinks of others before herself!  I have a lot to learn from that little cookie I tell you! But she wanted to bless me with this little bouquet and sing her favorite song that I sung to her when she was a little tyke...You are my sunshine, my only sunshine...!  Isn't that the sweetest????   Turns out, SHE was MY little sunshine on Saturday!

I will leave you with this today:

"Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of ALL the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately EVERYTHING is going to be alright and the determined choice to praise od in EVERY situation!" ~~ Rick Warren

"Then your light will break out like the dawn. Your recovery will speedily spring forth. Your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard." Isaiah 58:8

Let God be your Joy today! Let Him be your sunshine, the lamp to your feet, and light to your path, the water for your well, and your Rear Guard of protection, assurance, comfort and strength!

Blessings to you!

It's very crafty of her calling you out of the room like that though LOL. Gorgeous sunflowers - they must have cheered you up no end! I can't wait to see your project Christmas - it certainly sounds like a biggie! I can just about imagine you in your Supergirl outfit LOL! Awww and I just spotted my friendships card on your desk - I must have sent that to you years ago - I totally forgot about it! I'm so touched that it's on display on your desk <3 <3 <3 Totally stoked (which is a word I've learned from you LOL, but I'm not sure I'm using it right LOL! Folks these days, use ALLLL kinds of shortcut letters that I have NO IDEA what they mean!! I don't like admitting that little ditty, especially to my kids, who ALREADY think I'm "uncool!" And yes.....stoked is right and right on!!! I love that card and ALL the goodies you have sent me! I have to come up with a new way to display all the stuff from around the world that brings me so much please. My new space is not the same as the last and it's a work in progress! 1. Margaret, I do love sunflowers. We get them grown around here a lot because the hunters use them as bait...not so sweet....but I guess it gets the job done. So the sunflower fields are beautiful until they die! Thank you for your encouraging words and for stopping in. Blessings to you!

  8. Oh what a peach of a daughter! She must be such a comfort for you. Just lovely. All of your post was so lovely today, Felicia, and I really enjoyed reading it. Your sister's laser cutting machine is fantastic and I am sure you will make great decorations with the shapes. I don't make Christmas cards either - in fact I don't really "do" Christmas at all apart from a carol service or two. I laughed at the picture of yourself in your superwoman suit hahaha!! Despite losing so much weight, I still have a few lumps where I don't want them, and I don't think the suit would be much better on me either, but then, wearing it, I could probably move so quickly that nobody would notice the lumps, would they.

Thank you for your lovely comment! About the hospital business - it's not the doctors, it's the system. All the doctors and nurses are fantastic, but they are bound into a system that really doesn't enable them to do their job properly a lot of the time.

I am so glad you like my Tiny Carpets project. I don't think of it as needing a lot of patience because I just enjoy stitching away, often with the TV on in the evenings with my hubby. I love the discipline of the counted thread work and the rhythm of the stitching - it's very relaxing, and I really enjoy seeing the patterns emerging.

I only discovered Medjool dates after going whole-food plant-based. They are completely different from the average dates - just gorgeously succulent and tasty! We saw dates growing in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries but I've never seen them in bags before! In Israel they grown bananas in blue bags which looks very strange on the trees.

The kitties are so funny, aren't they! They do swat at each other now and then. Like all siblings, they have their little tiffs but they always kiss and make up.

Do get your bread maker out again! I always slice and freeze the loaf once it's cold, and then I can take out slices as and when we need them, and they are always fresh. We don't eat bread every day but this whole-grain seedy bread is gorgeous with soups.

    Happy WOYWW and God bless,

    1. Shoshi, thank you for your sweet comments about my sweet girl! She is a complete joy to me! And you are RIGHT....I didn't even think about the fact that if I had superpowers, that I'd have that stealth speed and I'd be one big blur!!!! LOL Thanks for that! LOL You are too funny!

I get you on the carpets and how they make you feel as you do them, I get that same vibe when I am doing art with my dip pen! It's so funny how God made things available to us to keep us in our right mind and at peace! He's faithful to be sure! :)

I LOVE Medjool dates. They are a bit pricey, but as you said, the BEST! I practice the whole-food plant based regime as well and eat my fair share. I like putting them in my smoothies, but they never seem to incorporate all the way into the smoothie and I end up with bits on the bottom!! LOL But I guess it's like a toy surprise inside at the end! LOL

I will have to get that bread maker out again for sure. Thanks for the tips, I haven't really done that before, not knowing if they would be just as good after thawed out or not? But you have inspired me!

Thanks for stopping in Shoshi and peace and health to you! :)

    2. Thanks Felicia! On the subject of frozen bread, there's a very interesting fact about starch. A lot of starch in refined foods is far too quickly digested, causing wild fluctuations in blood glucose levels, resulting in an insulin spike which is very unhealthy. If you cook starchy foods such as rice and pasta, and bread too, and chill or freeze them, and then reheat them, a chemical change takes place which converts the starch to resistant starch - resistant to digestive juices so the digestive process is a lot slower. This keeps one's blood sugar much more stable. I have always done this with rice and pasta, many years before I knew this fact - as soon as it is cooked, I tip it into a sieve and run cold water through it which stops it cooking, and prevents it sticking. This way you can cook it in advance. When you are ready to serve the meal, all you have to do is pour boiling water through it to heat it up again. This rapid cooling and then reheating is an excellent tip, and it also makes perfect sense health-wise. Freezing bread has the same effect, and taking individual slices out of the freezer, it's absolutely fresh every time! It's great. However, bread should not be kept in the fridge.

I don't make smoothies. It is best, as far as possible, to eat the fruit and veg intact. Pre-processed, you can get that insulin spike again. Best to make your digestive system work for its living and do what it was designed to do. The very act of chewing food to a puree initiates certain hormonal releases in the body which signal satiety and decrease appetite too - good for weight loss. I saw a YouTube video today where the guy said that we are all issued with 32 excellent food processors - our teeth haha!! I do use my blender to make soups, though, and my daily rehydration/electrolyte drink for my ileostomy (now sweetened with dates rather than maple syrup - more fibre, more antioxidants and phytonutrients.)

I was looking at my parastomal hernia again today in the shower and it's definitely got bigger (WHEN am I going to get that wretched operation!!) - I think that even a superpower suit wouldn't cover it up now!! I definitely need the high-speed blur these days... Failing that, perhaps we could get on a magic carpet (even a tiny one) and be whisked along at high speed.

God is good! He knows how each of us needs to relax and do nice therapeutic creative stuff!

      God bless,
      Shoshi xxx

  9. Hi Felicia, thank you for your visit. I know what you mean about hairbrained ideas and then the mad rush to finish - sounds like me every year. Beautiful flowers from your Daughter, my little girl is just as kind hearted as her Brother's and very over generous when it comes to beautiful ways to treat me.. i'm a lucky Mom too. 1. A crafty sister helps when you have ideas swirling around in your head! She has got quite the little business going with her cutter and I was so thankful she was able to help me out with all of her orders in the line up!! I agree with your thoughts on the unforgettable moments! I have always tried to encourage her gifts of love whether it was a leaf that she thought was special, to a rock and even sticks!! I have tried to keep each one because I wanted her to know that her gifts, that meant something to her, meant something to me as well! I hope that seed sewn continues to grow! It's the little things in life that mean so much more than those "bigger things," and make longer lasting memories from the heart! Thanks so much for stopping in Tracey and have a great weekend! :)

  16. Hi, good to be back in the saddle post-op, didn't think it would take me 2 months to get back to crafting, although I haven't been just sitting around, just doing other things... Oh and I have been able to use my left arm since nerve block wore off the day after my surgery but I was very careful for the first few weeks, so when I started doing the jigsaws again it was indeed with BOTH arms. Good exercise too. Did my first big supermarket shop today, getting there..

Loving seeing your desk and the same watercolour mixing flower. Bought mine ages ago in the Chinese Quarter in London when I dabbled in Chinese painting. Not really a painter, more of a scrapper me.

    Thanks for the visit BJ#26

    1. BJ it is so good to hear that you are healing! And.....that that other arm came in handy....LOL. I am sure you did have to be very careful, I can't imagine!! Yes, I had to order that watercolor mixing flower because it's so hard to find ANYTHING of value (art wise) where I live. We do have big box craft stores, but all they carry is plastic mixers and I prefer the porcelain ones. Sorry it's not your cup of tea, but maybe you can have another go at it in the future with a new light? Thanks so much for stopping in and many blessings to you!
