WOYWW #593 - ATC's and Me!

Good Wednesday all my crafty friends! Here's hoping you all are having a lovely week thus far!  My past weekend was filled with craftiness as I have several projects on the table right now!!  Holiday time is coming up and I love giving handmade gifts as, number one, it brings me a lot of joy to give someone something I personally made and thought about "just for them," and then because its almost always something "arty" which is also something that brings me a lot of joy! There is a place for things bought at a store, especially if it's something that someone has really been wanting, but I love giving people something from a creative heart!! :)

That being said, last week was a fast and furious push to get my ATC's in the mail for the ATC Swap Group I am in over on Instagram at Amy's Art Alchemy. I am late getting into the group and the ATC's for October's swap are due by the 15th!! So I had put the peddle to the metal and get those puppies created and in the mail early last week! Here's hoping they make it in time! :)  Below see my fall creations:

Emphemera Set

Dip Pen & Ink and Acrylic Set

Watercolor Zentangle Set

There was no designated theme, however, with my favorite time of the year upon us, I found it hard not to use the "fall" theme.  My mind was a flurry of ideas, so I decided not to make all the cards the same but do three different crafty ways that I like to create.  The first two I did with emphemera, bookpage, packing material, and the like, and my trusty Distress Inks. I also added some of Finnabair's Art Ingredient Glass Beads and Glitter.  I love that stuff because it just adds that little extra pop of texture.

In the second set, I wanted to use my dip pen and ink.  I again used some book page but this time as my background along with a little gesso so it could still show through.  After sketching out both cards with my dip pen and ink, I then used my yummy Golden Fluid Acrylics to add color! As I said in my last post, I love, love Gold Fluid Acrylics! They flow so well and the colors are amazing!

In the third set, I knew I wanted to use Zentangle, which I love to do.  The backgrounds were all using my fabulous Schmincke watercolors.  They are amazing watercolors that are a joy to work with and the colors are so vibrant!  I then used my dip pen and ink again for the Zentangles as well as a white gel pen for some extra pop. And voila!

Sunday as I was creating, I happened to look out the window and had this gorgeous view! Usually when I see a rainbow, it's somewhat distorted, like the second one, but the first one was amazingly rich and vibrant.  The second one was a bonus!! Why do we NEVER get tired of that glorious, spiritual sight?  For me, it's confirmation of God's promise in His Word that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood.  It is said that a double rainbow is a sign of transformation. Transformation is a process of growth and sometimes it's a test of the heart.  In God's Word He says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2  The last year has been a year of transformation for me and sometimes a little painful, but I believe that God confirms His promises to us through many ways to strengthen us and give us peace.  I am a visual person and for me, when I see God's created rainbows, That's Abba Father saying, "I've got you, I hear you and you will never be alone or forsaken!"  I am so very thankful to serve a God who cares for me and loves me with an eternal purpose in mind!

Well, that's a wrap, my friends! I pray the rest of the week for you all is filled with the many colors of the rainbow!!  Happy WOYWW!

Blessings

  8. What a beautiful post, Felicia. All your ATCs are stunning... Like you, I adore the autumn colours. Your use of these with monochrome in the 2nd set is very effective. Also like you, I adore Zentangle! You have created three absolutely gorgeous sets here and I can't choose a favourite!!

I so agree with you about rainbows. They remind me of God's promise, and His grace, every time I see one. It grieves me so much that certain people in the world have appropriated this symbol for their own use which is definitely not of God. Time Christians reclaimed our rightful symbols! I love that Scripture from Romans, too.

Thank you for your visit and for your kind words! The first needle book went down very well with the recipient, and I have every anticipation that the second one will, too. This ongoing project is proving so enjoyable, and it's its own reward, the joy on the faces of the recipients!

The kitties are so funny. They love to go out, and then when their little tummies start to get empty, and especially if it's getting cold or wet out there, they come in as good as gold. If we need to get them in earlier for any reason, they have to be bribed with biscuits! I swear they are almost human at times, with their facial expressions and their funny little ways! Their characters are very different from each other, too, as have all our kitties that we've had.

I'm so sorry that having cancer meant that you decided to sacrifice your hair. I suppose it was easier to deal with when you were feeling poorly. I was devastated that I had to have 6 months of really aggressive and horrible chemo with mine, but the one great bonus was that that particular drug didn't make one lose one's hair. I've had long hair for nearly all my life. I used to be able to sit on it, and am growing it really long again now. It's funny what happened with it though. I've got a photo of myself taken back view while on holiday back in 1980 and my plait (longer in those days) was really thick all the way down. As I got older, my hair started to thin, and it began to taper. I've noticed recently that since going whole-food plant-based for about a year now (and finally abandoning dairy back in June) my hair has got thick again! I am very happy with it now I've fully embraced the grey. When I was having my cancer treatment I coloured it in bands of purple, orange and blue and people at the hospital absolutely loved it and said how it cheered them up! I used to tell everyone it was a side effect of my chemo but nobody asked what I was on, and could they have some too, lol!!

    Happy WOYWW and God bless,

  10. Hi Felicia. It has taken me all morning to pick up my click and collect order, so I am really late (for me) starting to work down the list - sorry! Lovely ATCs - I just love autumn - I was out this morning and the trees are really turning colour now. Beautiful. What a good idea to make the ATCs all different - it's hard to do them all alike, isn't it?! I, too, love a rainbow. We get lots here - and quite often even get double ones - just have to be looking out of the window at the right time. They always remind me of the words in Jeremiah - "I know the plans I have for you..."
    Take care. God bless.

  11. There's something about Autumnal colours that gives you that we all need. Stunning little works or art Felicia, i'd find it impossible to pick a favourite each unique and worthy of the number one spot. I agree wholeheartedly about giving handmade gifts, i'm thankful that everyone I make for is always grateful for anything received.
Never tire of seeing the glory of a rainbow, it's like a sign that lands unite.

  12. Amen to your last paragraph x Love your ATCs. When I tried writing ink on gesso it wasn’t successful, the ink spread out, is it possible to use the wrong ink? I have not used a dip pen before, I will have to look them up. Happy WOYWW Angela #29

  20. Awesome projects, Felicia! I know it's difficult to get away from the Autumn theme this time of year, but why would you when we have all this glorious colour around to inspire us! Rainbows are so special - I have a rainbow maker crystal in the house - when the sun shines at it from a certain angle, it creates rainbows in the room! They show up in random places. This was a present I gave to my mother-in-law and when she passed it was returned back to us, so I always think of her when I see those rainbows! She used to love it and it's a very nice way to remember her. Have a wonderful and creative weekend! Sorry I couldn't visit earlier - got tied up with work again. Thank you for visiting earlier - it's always a joy finding a message from you! xx

  21. It's been ages since I created ATCs myself and seeing this, it's so tempting to get out the cardstock and start creating some - if only there were more hours in a day! Thanks for your visit to my blog last week. In the Netherlands there were stricter rules announced in order to get the covid-number down but I am allowed to stay working at location - pfew! That's a release! Stay healthy and happy! Love from Holland. Marit #2
