Good Tuesday all my crafty friends! We have been experiencing lovely weather here in Georgia. Almost fall like.....almost! LOL That means out of the 90's and triple digits! LOL We have had out windows open and it has just been glorious! Nothing smells better to me than a home filled with breezes of outside air! Last weekend was my "clean the house" weekend, so for once, I thoroughly enjoyed puttering about cleaning as those yummy breezes came in!
As I have been really pushing fall in my mind, I wanted to do a "fall" tag. I had gotten my August Unity Stamp set in and wanted to use them in a project! The tag that I used was a large 4x8 tag that was a RAK from my good friend Wanda Hentges. That sweet lady send me a stack of those guys and let me tell you what, I have been loving using them!! I also used some discontinued PaperArtsy Fresco paint that was also a RAK from Wanda on the background. In addition to those paints I used tome Daler Rowney cream and some Americana Spiced Pumpkin. I simply took a makeup sponge and started with my light colors and worked my way out with the darker colors for a mixed "fallish" feel background. I finished by distressing the edges with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.
I pulled one of my old fave stamp sets from Dyan Reaveley, The Around the Edge set, and sponged on the various paints and stamped lightly in the background. After doing so, then I painted in a few here or there with the darker colors. I then took that leaf stamps from that August Unity set and stamped with Archival black here and there as if cascading down.
I keep an old bucket full of extra pieces that are left over from other projects, so I pulled out my can to see if I could use anything from it. I actually had some leaves left over from a project that I think I did last year (nothing like hoarding! LOL) and then also pulled some metal leaves that I got from Sheri Whitfield's Etsy Shop. I love those metal leaves and actually am going to have to get some more because I am just about out! My good friend Wanda also had sent me this HUGE bag of what I call "what nots" that I was fortunate to get from her past projects! In that bag was that great banner and the die cut word vision! I love that whole bag of goodies. Every time I look in it, I find something else wonderful! She had also stashed the beautiful sentiment that she had stamped on some card stock that I ripped and distressed with Distress ink in Antique Linen and Spiced Marmalade. Thanks Wanda! :)
I took the banner and covered with drywall tape and then sponged on the same paint colors that I had used on the tag and then distressed the same as well. I then mixed the Americana Spiced Pumpkin with some Liquitex Modeling paste and put through a leaf die cut remnant that Wanda had in the bag. It worked great! I then popped out the "vision" die cut letters and covered with a brown ink from ColorBox and then heat embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder. I wanted a touch more of something on those letters (like a rust look) so I took another lighter metallic brown and heat embossed again on them to give the effect. It looked great! I adhered to the banner with Aleene's and then I smeared around some more glue and sprinkled Metallic Mica Beads and Mica Flakes for another cool effect! I then adhered the whole lot including some twine and some bling with Aleene's and voila!!
I chose that word "vision" because fall to me represents change and where there is change, you have to have vision! Vision for a hope, vision for the future and discernment filled with vision to walk in God's plan for your life! When we as Christians begin to try to understand how to walk in God's vision for our life, we have to be very sensitive to wait and listen for His voice. How do we do that? It starts by surrendering ourselves unto Him. If you don't humble yourself before Him, you can't begin to think that you would hear His voice because the only voice you would hear is your own! It's not about you, it's about Him and His glory!
To know His vision for our lives we have to be able to offer up and confess our sins and then be obedient to God's will for us to actively seek Him through prayer and His word. His word is a roadmap, it's a light and lamp to our feet, it's a guidebook and His last will and testiment to us!! You want to walk with vision, get in His word! Commune with the Almighty and allow Him to speak with you and show you His ways! His will is for you to know Him and then walk in that wisdom and truth that another may be drawn unto Him!!! With vision is change and change is growth! Just like the autumn leaves that change and fall, spring brings on new growth and new vision! I want to see more clearly through His eyes, how about you?
I pray you seek His vision for your life today, you will not be disappointed!
Blessings

ReplyDeleteOhhhh, Patty, you are the sweetest! Thank you so much! I sooooo hope you are doing better! Have been thinking of you and prayerful for your continued recovery! :) Thanks again my friend! :)
DeleteYummy! Even though we don't have 'fall' or really any season here in Tucson, I still feel the call of the colors changing. I love the rusts and burgundys and golds this time of year. I even made a pumpkin pie yesterday (my son's favorite).
ReplyDeleteEeeewhhhhhh! I'm coming over Shel! I LOVE pumpkin pie!!! Especially nice and warm with a great pumpking latte! LOL Thank you so much for, AS ALWAYS, your lovely comments and stopping by my friend! Blessings to you! :)
DeleteFelicia, I can't wait for you to start filming your process. You describe it so well but I still get lost - I learn by sight! And this tag turned out so very cool!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Dana, I'm sorry about my "wordiness!" I have been known as a "Chatty Cathy!" LOL I try not to make it too long, but then my brain get's in the way! LOL I wish I could film my process, but I don't have the tools or the know how to do so or the internet to upload. We live in the country! LOLOL Maybe one day, when I grow up, I will be able to that! LOLOL! Thanks for coming around and putting up with my "goings ons!!" LOL Blessings to you my friend! :)
DeleteOh, I envy you those Fall breezes!!! Nothing better than opening the windows and letting all those smells in with that crisp air - my favorite time of year. I love watching the trees turn those glorious hues and then collecting the leaves, pressing in waxed paper and hanging in the window to enjoy thru the winter. You caputed all that in this tag - gorgeous, my friend, gorgeous!!! -Sylvia
ReplyDeleteSylvia, you are just the sweetest! Thank you so much! Yes, we are fortunate here for that, if you can just endure the heat of summer! We deserve that fabulous display after putting up with the summers! LOL But yes, I love the fall, it's my absolute favorite time of the year and the BEST time for camping, which is my fave thing to do outside of my art! LOL Thank you again Sylvia, many blessings to you! :)
DeleteThis is beautiful. I love fall..here in West Texas I hope we have one..sometimes we just change to winter over night..lovely tag
ReplyDeleteSusan, that is tooo funny! It's pretty much the same here, except we don't have that much of a winter! LOL But we do get a nice little fall usually, which I love, but then the next thing you know its summer! LOL Thank you so much for stopping by and for the hug! :) Blessings
DeleteFelicia! I love the richness of the colors and all the layers! What a great blog post to add to the beauty of the tag :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a honey Pam, thank you so much! Those are "me" colors and I try not to use them in EVERYTHING I do, LOL, but I always lean towards them!! Thank you again for your sweetness and stopping by! :) Blessings
DeleteI love the autumnal colours in this - makes me feel melancholic just looking at it (in a good way!) - perhaps atmospheric would be a better choice of words! Those metal skeleton leaves look divine and a perfect match for this tag! It's quite chilly in my part of the globe now, but it's great for countryside walks. Enjoy the season!
ReplyDeleteThank you Zsuzsa my friend! I feel the say way, fall gives me that feeling, but in a good way! It's time to wind down stop and smell the coffee, reflect on the year and look forward!!! I envy you with your "chilly" part of the world! I would love to be there, so you enjoy that! We are still in the high 80's even 90 here, so not a TOTAL reprieve, but nice enough to drive with the windows down, at least for me! Thank again Zsuzsa and it is sooooooo goood to have you back online! Missed you! :) Blessings
DeleteHey Sunshine!!! And you are sunshine and Sonshine to all of us out here reading your blog!!!! I love how much you love the stuff I sent... especially the "what nots". If you only knew how many times I just about chucked all that because it wasn't getting it used and "how much do I really need to keep all this", but "it's too good to throw away"... LOL... yes, I argued with myself!!!! Your tag is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteWanda, you ALWAYS know how to make my day! :) I do pray that I shine for Him. I'm not perfect, but I'd like to think that I convey my heart for Him walk accordingly! Let me tell you, a gift is NEVER turned away at my house!! LOL You know the old saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure!" Yep, that's me for sure! :) I think what I like about stuff like that is the ability to put a little piece of all of my WONDERFUL online friends in my projects! I like to think some of your "mojo" rubs off and influences my projects! LOL Your gift was a gift that will keep on giving! Thank you my friend and many blessings to you! :)
DeleteOh what a lovely tag. This inspires me for October's Kraft era Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Heather! I loved doing this tag! The colors and the textures just came together so perfectly! I love it when it happens like that! LOL Cause you know as well as I do, that it doesn't always happen like that! LOL Thanks again! :) Blessings to you!
